Q: How can you be a religious school and not a diocesan school?

A: We are a private school founded by 3 Catholic teachers. The school creates a soul-safe environment for children of all faiths.  We teach a Catholic program and cultivate a distinctly Catholic environment. There are many schools around the country doing the very same thing. A visit to www.napcis.org might be very helpful in understanding the growing phenomenon of small, independent schools founded by Catholics. Each year more are formed.

Q: Is the Byzantine church a Catholic church?

A:Yes, they are Catholics in union with the Bishop of Rome (the Pope) whom we recognize as the visible Head of the Catholic Church. They are recognized as being Catholic by the local Roman Catholic Bishops and the Bishops of the United States of America and the whole world.  The School of the Immaculata celebrates the beauty of both the Eastern and Western churches, embracing the richness of both. The two are both under the Holy Father and considered by Pope John Paul II to be 2 lungs breathing together. (from his encyclical Light of the East)

Q: Do you use a traditional curriculum?

A. The School of the Immaculata uses the Natural Structure approach to education. Natural structure is the name given to the form of education that combines elements of Montessori and Classical education.  It is an education in excellence.  As children move past the preparatory and grammar stages of the trivium, Montessori materials are used less frequently and methodology becomes more similar to other forms of
classical education.

A. Students in High School must wear modest clothing. Boys wear polo shirts of their choice or a uniform oxford from The Golden Egg Uniform Store.  Girls wear uniform oxfords or modest tops. Boys and girls wear khaki bottoms or modest bottoms of their own choice.
