Class will use curriculum developed by Musikgarten for young children that focuses on singing, movement activities, listening, instrument play, and rhythmic/tonal patterns to develop self-expression and musical literacy. |

Class time is active and fun and will be used to develop musical skills with instrument play and singing, and self-expression through creative movement and dance. |

Curriculum will integrate previous experiential and aural concepts into concrete musical terms. Students will become familiar with how music is created, written, and performed. We will study and learn musical form, timbre, texture, various styles, improvisation and music from different cultures through singing, creative movement, using Orff methodology, Kodaly, percussion, singing and instruments. |
Students will learn the music for the Divine Liturgy and will lead the school at Liturgy. We will study various types of church music, ancient and new, using them to support liturgy and other school events. | For spring program: Processional and Canon
This class will focus on utilizing elements of music – form, melody, pitch, rhythm, tempo and dynamics. We will use hand chimes, movement and a variety of percussion instruments to create an ensemble for performance at school functions throughout the year. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of musical types and styles. Since all work is done in the classroom, attendance is required. |
For spring program: Whack Attack, Today is the Day Students will participate in small and large activities to develop skills of personal expression and self-confidence by using creative movement, dance, drumming and theatrical games. Some outside assignments will be required. |

| For spring program: Lean on Me All Students in Class Haunted House Skit: Jade, Shakarrio, Peter & John Paul The Turtle: Brooke Safe and Sound Ali, Brooklyn, Claire Jade, Adelaide Schroeder Monologue Jonathon Piano Grace Dance -Starry Night Morgan & Lauren The Climb Imani This class will focus on performance at many different levels. Singing, acting, and dramatic reading will come together to create various ensembles that will perform throughout the year. In addition, this group will work with other instrumentalists in the school. Some after school time will be required when we are preparing for programs. |
For spring program: Horse With No Name
This class is designed to create a contemporary Christian music group for performance. Some prior knowledge (beginner level) is needed. Each student will need his or her own instrument to practice assignments. Class time will be spent learning repertoire and in developing ensemble skills; home practice will be required for all participants. There will be performances throughout the school year. |
