Spelling Test on Tuesday.
Students
have both their spelling book as well as an
extra list I gave them to study from.I have seen WONDERFUL growth in writing as the year has progressed. We have been working on writing a good paragraph that includes a topic sentence and a strong conclusion as well as reinforcing the regular writing essentials that are listed below. We are on pace to finish their Grammar books and we are doing lots of reinforcement of what they have learned this year. Our reading selections from now on will come from the book, The Story Tree. It is one of the books in the Faith and Freedom Readers printed by Seton Press. They are wonderful stories of faith and character. We will be working on reading comprehension as we use these tales. _________________________ Writing Essentials (the things I look for when grading at this point in the year - more will be added as time goes on) 1. The first word in a sentence must be capitalized. 2. All proper nouns must be capitalized. 4. The letter "I" when written alone must always be capitalized. Also in the words "I'm" and "I'll" and "I'd". 5. Never start a sentence with the word "and". 6. Student name must be on each paper in the top left and sitting on the line (not floating in the big white margin at the top!) 7. Correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. |
3rd and 4th:
We
have made so much progress in math this year! Students have all grown
in their math confidence and I am proud of their hard work.
These last few weeks of school we will be reviewing the major concepts of the year. 4th grade, in particular, is working hard on long division. __________________________________ IXL math 15 minutes a day! _________________________ |
